I would love to get these inked in the next week on 2 so I can just be fully on coloring.

Oh, I also have a paste up panel for an earlier page. I thought the original panels was not very dynamic, for active enough, so this new panel works much better.


With that, I’ve been scanning and cleaning up all the pages I’ve already inked. You know what that means… time for color!

Anyway, a new Heckdiverz strip dropped a little while back. If you haven’t seen it, you can check it out here. They are quick reads.

I’m also back working on Sasquatch & Bob. I’ve got a bunch of pages penciled for the next issue. I’ve been reposting the old issues on a new webcomic hosting site. There are some issues, but I like the way it works a bit better than my old one. It might be a bit boring for anyone who's already ready the old stuff since I’m basically doing 2 pages a week. My hope is that I can stay consistent enough to keep that pace through new issues, as I create them.

I’m trying a slightly modified process now. In the past I would do a fairly tight sketch done digitally then print those pages out and do a lot of cleanup in the ink stage. The problem I was running into was having to make too many decisions late in the process. I feel like Sasquatch & Bob look best with cleaner linework, so getting tighter pencils should help me focus on that once I’m at the inking stage.

That’s all I’ve got right now. I’ll try to come out with another one later this week to get back on track.

I've had this little idea kicking around, and thought it would be the perfect project to try it out with.

There are definitely some issues I have with it. For instance, selecting objects, or layers is a bit difficult, and manipulating vector shapes is a bit limited. I will admit that this all might be just my inexperience with the tool. Oh, and I’d really love to have a CMYK color space too.

That all being said, I did like it as a drawing tool. It is pretty cool to have a way to draw the way I draw, and have it be vector based. That way I can resize things for any end use. Raster based stuff requires a lot of pre-planning for the end result, especially when you are planning on printing it.

I’ve been doing pencils and inks for a bunch of pages, so it is moving along quite nicely.

The one I’m working on now is a retelling of a story I did a while ago. When I originally did it, I just made the story as I drew it. I’ve wanted to George Lucas it ever since. Now, I have an idea for a future story that I can plant the seeds for in this one, so it felt like a good time to revisit. I’ve made a few structural changes to the story, some more fleshed out writing, as well as some character changes. Katy Powers is no longer a new reporter, but a video essayist. I think I also gave her and her camera operator, Tommy a bit more to do.

Anyway, Here is a shot of the first two inked pages.


Also, I just got another issue of Sasquatch & Bob printed. In color this time! I am sending them to Houston for a convention down there. Rob Saucedo, author of Where Wolf has kindly offered to display my comics at his table. All the books I sent are pre-signed by me since I am not able to go in-person.

The event is Comicpalooza in Houston, TX May 22–24. If you or someone you know will be in the area, it should make for a great weekend of nerdy stuff and whatnot.

I have started thumbnails for a new issue of Sasquatch & Bob. I don’t have a set process for this yet, as I’ve done each issue differently so far, but I think this method of scripting with all the dialogue is better. I had been trying the Marvel method, but doing the dialogue last seems to be more work in the end, for me.

With everything going on, I haven’t been able to focus on new comics, so it has been nice to get back to doing the part I actually like about the process… the making a comic part.

I have also been able to finish a colorized re-release of an older story I did. I started this one a while back, as I had hoped to get it ready for the convention a couple weeks ago. After I realized that wasn’t going to happen, I put it aside for a bit to focus on other work, so I’m happy that I was able to get it done anyway.

In addition to fixing Bob’s head in the story, and coloring it, I also altered a few panels entirely, as well as adjusting some of the dialogue to read a bit better. Overall, I think it came out really nice.

Why did I do this? It’s part of my long-term 3D chess strategy. 😉 Anyway, I’ve posted this remastered version up on my web comic page if you want to check it out.

Lastly, I will have some printed work at a convention in Texas, details to come. Sadly, I won’t be there, but a friend has offered to put some of my stuff on his table should I be able to get it shipped out in time.

I just sent out another issue to get printed. Sasquatch & Bob: Dewormed. This will be the first printed color issue. I can’t wait to see how it looks.

In my first update, I thought I’d talk about another thing I did for the first time. This past weekend I had a spot at Kids Con New England. The first time I’ve done a convention. It was fun. I met some great folks. I sold a few books, some prints and a bunch of stickers. Honestly, it went way better than I thought it would, so that was a nice surprise. I didn’t end up getting many photos but here are a couple.

This first one is me at my little table. The Standee in back is from my table-mate’s setup for the day. 🤷‍♂️
